215.1 Scope. So the word feeder is a common word used to describe the wires that feed a device. Plane as it might sound a lot of people new to electrical terms get this look on there faces when this word is used. All this means is that from the panel the wires going to the first device is a being fed by it. And from that the device(switch or outlet) it feeds the next device. Not to make things complicated but all that this is trying to refer to is the flow going from device to device until it finds a place were the electrical energy is used. I hope that is clear. If not leave a comment. I don’t know how much more I can talk about this but I will make things as clear as possible to anyone that has questions.

“This article covers the installation requirements, overcurrent protection requirements, minimum size, and ampacity of conductors for feeders.

Exception: Feeders for electrolytic cells as covered in 668.3(C)(1) and (C)(4).”
